Welcome

We are pleased that you have chosen Bounce Town for your after school childcare needs.  Sharon and Lera have been in the childcare field for a combination of 18 years. This handbook is to facilitate a greater understanding of our philosophies, business policies and expectations. Please read it carefully and feel free to discuss with us any questions or concerns that you may have.

Our Child Care Philosophy

You, of course, are the primary focus for your child. We are the support to whom they look to and depend on in your absence. We strive to provide quality after school childcare. Children are allowed to be children and families are always a priority. We believe that family involvement and communication is a vital key to any quality childcare program.  We encourage parent participation in extra activities that are offered through out the year.

Bounce Town provides a safe, clean, comfortable, stimulating, fun and educational place for children. We will meet the needs and abilities of each child’s physical, emotional, intellectual and social development.

Communication

Communication is very important to us.  We welcome questions, feedback, or discussions that affect a positive outcome for your child.  Sensitive issues should be discussed after 6:30 PM. You are encouraged to call us between 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM., if you would like to talk over the phone.

Bounce Town maintains an open door policy and you are welcome to visit the center anytime during normal operating hours.

Guidance and Discipline

Bounce Town maintains a positive discipline policy, which promotes independence, self-esteem, and a caring attitude toward others and the physical environment.  The Texas Administrative Code, Title 40, Chapters 746 and 747, Subchapters L, outline the discipline and guidance policy to read:

Discipline must be:

        (1) Individualized and consistent for each child;

        (2) Appropriate to the child’s level of understanding; and

        (3) Directed toward teaching the child acceptable behavior and self-control.

A caregiver may only use positive methods of discipline and guidance that encourage self-esteem, self-control, and self-direction, which include at least the following:

(1) Using praise and encouragement of good behavior instead of focusing only upon unacceptable behavior;

(2) Reminding a child of behavior expectations daily by using clear, positive statements;

(3) Redirecting behavior using positive statements; and

(4) Using brief supervised separation or time out from the group, when appropriate for the child’s age and development, which is limited to no more than one minute per year of  the child’s age.

There must be no harsh, cruel, or unusual treatment of any child. The following types of discipline and guidance are prohibited:

(1) Corporal punishment or threats of corporal punishment;

(2) Punishment associated with food, naps, or toilet training;

(3) Pinching, shaking, or biting a child;

(4) Hitting a child with a hand or instrument;

(5) Putting anything in or on a child’s mouth;

(6) Humiliating, ridiculing, rejecting, or yelling at a child;

(7) Subjecting a child to harsh, abusive, or profane language;

(8) Placing a child in a locked or dark room, bathroom, or closet with the door closed; and

(9) Requiring a child to remain silent or inactive for inappropriately long periods of time for the child’s age.

If a discipline problem arises that does not respond to the above-mentioned techniques, Bounce Town will communicate with the parents. If the problem continues, other arrangements for the care of the child will have to be made, for the safety and well being of all.

Transportation

All children will be transported from school in Bounce Town’s van with a licensed driver.  The driver will have undergone all TXDFPS background and criminal history checks, as well as First Aid & CPR certified. The van is equipped with a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, copies of all children’s emergency records and phone numbers.

Emergency Drills

In the event of a gas leak, chemical spill or other evacuation emergency, children will be transported to McDonalds located in Murphy at the intersection of FM 544 & Murphy Rd.

Fire drills and severe weather drills will be practiced each month.  In case of a fire, children will relocate to the south end of the parking lot area and parents will be contacted immediately. The severe weather area is located inside the homework room, along the center wall. A copy of the Emergency Exit and Relocation Plan is posted on the Parent Information Board.

Injuries and Medical Emergencies

Every effort is made to keep the children safe through supervision. Minor injuries receive appropriate first aid, and an Injury/Accident report form will be completed and signed by the parent. This form will be kept in the child’s file for three months.

If an injury or illness occurs that requires immediate medical attention, we will use 911 and the child will be transported by ambulance. We will notify the parent of the hospital location and a Bounce Town staff member will accompany the child.  If the parent cannot be reached, we will contact the emergency contact person listed on the Enrollment Information form.

Parents are responsible for all costs involved in medical treatment obtained for their child, including but not limited to transportation to hospital or medical facility. You must pick up your child from the hospital.
